PERSISTENCE, a poem by Reginold Ajay Jacob, India

PERSISTENCE
a poem by Reginald Ajay Jacob, India

First I had one heart,
Now I have four,
One heart I could crush at random
Of this, I was very sure.

Today I live in four hearts,
Each heart is dearer than mine
I am given the duty to nourish
Three most beautiful lives

Let my heart go to the gutter,
I do not care anyway,
But what will happen to my hearts
For them, I always pray.

They are attached to my heart
If I get crushed, they’ll be crushed all the more
How can I bear this sadness?
The once who are my very own.

I’ll live for you
Till the time he allows
Till all difficulties
In front of my persistence bow

Note- four hearts stand for me, my twins and my wife. I wrote this poem as I passed through testing times.
