Lynched, a poem by Reginold Ajay Jacob, India

Lynched

a poem by Reginold Ajay Jacob, India

Lynched, what a horrible word,
People killing in public,
In front of all, you understand,
No one to question, you understand,

They'll kill you, you will die,
For they know, it better,
That you are at wrong,
Justice now will not take long.

People will stone you in public,
What horrible death you will die,
They picked the stones,
Adulterous women had to die.

The first stone should be thrown by sinless,
Christ told ferocious crowed,
One by one all left the place,
On a single soul was found.

Do not take the law in your hands,
He is the final judge,
Your hearts and mind He knows
At last, He will be the judge.

Note:- Infront of Christ, people wanted to stone a woman to death, saying she was caught in the act of adultery, Christ asked them, only the first stone should be thrown by the who has not sinned. All left one by one as their conscious was touched.

Mosquitoes in trouble, a poem by Reginold Ajay Jacob, India

Mosquitoes in trouble

Mosquitoes in trouble,
There is a threat to their life,
Blood of humans,
Has turned out to be wild.

They are human in form,
Inhuman in deeds,
They have turned out to be a cannibal
Too wild to feed.

Mosquitoes are in trouble,
Lest they too may imbibe,
The vices of society,
Which are too wild.

They fear communalism,
May break their backs,
DDT and insect repellents,
They can simply sack.

Blood has turned, too precious,
Nowhere to be found,
Mostly in humans
Now demons abound.

Note:- This poem was written on 20th January 1993. Time when Delhi was tense due to communal discord.
  • I dedicate this poem to my teacher C.P.Singh.
My friend's and I were waiting for him for his lecture at the Delhi school of economics. He came, and one of the students said to him about a number of animals on the roads. Sir entered the class and said, yes this city has a lot of animals. He had changed the connotation from animals to human nature which also is barbaric. This inspired me to write this poem. Then and there during his lecture.
Enjoy reading.
